From making sails for boats in 1924 to shade sails in 2015

Cairnscorp began nearly a hundred years ago in 1914 or 15 as legend has it,  as the original Cairns and Woodward, making sails for boats and tents and horse covers for the military. We  have expanded significantly over the years. (see pictures below for a blast from the past)

Still based in Pukekohe in a purpose built factory, with a staff of 15 , we have plenty of room for trucks and boats, caravans and trailers.

To complete our work we use a combination of industrial sewing machines and hi frequency welders. The welders enable us to “meld” the PVC together without stitching which makes the product very durable, eliminating the need for thread which might breakdown in the future.

Cairnscorp is locally owned and operated by Mike and Julie. Our staff is a great mix of age and ethnicity- from the apprentice through to our senior salesman. Our guys in the factory and salesroom have varied interests from motorbikes, to music and karting. We also employ a member of staff through Workbridge (Real jobs for People with Disabilities) and another through the Red Cross.

Mike is a member of a local tennis club and sports facility, Julie is horsey, as is Karen in the office . Sarah, also in admin, breeds bullmastiffs who are twice her size. In the sales team we have Gary who comes from a sales background and Andrew, who was a Sailmaker for many years.

We believe in supporting our local business community both  as members of the Pukekohe Business Association and using local business wherever we can. We also support our local community-you will see a list of our current commitments on the Community page.

At Cairnscorp we strive for complete customer satisfaction and look forward to working with you.
