Factors to consider when choosing a trailer cover
Choosing a fabric that will be strong, durable and water resistant at Cairnscorp we use pvc to manufacture our trailer covers with a choice of colours and thickness. Consider what you want to carry and how to access the contents. Most of the trailer covers we custom make have two zips at the rear with clips which allows you to roll up and fix the panel so it’s easy to load goods into the trailer. Does your trailer need bars on the top to prevent the cover from sagging, especially after heavy rain these enable rain to run off the trailer cover and stop pooling. We can also insert clear or mesh windows.
Materials and construction techniques
At Cairnscorp we usually manufacture our trailer covers from pvc we sew in zips for easy access. Steel bars if needed to let the rain run off so as not to cause sagging to the cover. We also reinforce the corners to protect the material for rubbing against the trailer. We can manufacture trailer covers to have mesh or clear windows. We have been asked in the past to make covers out of canvas but the majority we manufacture are from pvc.

Installation and maintenance tips
We custom make the trailer cover and install the cover here in Pukekohe we will show you how to remove the cover if needed and to re install it Pvc is low maintenance and can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft brush for stubborn dirt then rinse off to remove any soap residue.
Storage tips to prolong the life of the cover
Keeping the cover clean from pollutants and bird droppings will stop the cover from deteriorating over time inspecting the trailer cover to ensure there are no tears or thinning. We can repair tears by sewing or heat welding so it’s good to bring them in when they are small. Storing your cover when not in use in a cool dry environment out from direct sunlight can protect it from strong uv and extreme weather. Trailer covers can also extend the life of your trailer as it protects the frame from the elements also.
